about

Next up in our exclusive Adkins remasters series, "People of Rhythm" by Sonic Food is a timeless EP that remains surprisingly underrated and affordable despite its undeniable quality. Originally released in 1993 on Chill, this masterpiece was written and produced by Jason Adkins.

The opening track "People of Rhythm" is a delightful blend of forceful rhythms and pulsating beats, reminiscent of the legendary Force Mass Motion. A track that would have graced the sets of renowned DJs like Grooverider and Carl Cox, had they received the promo in '93. The vocal sample, cleverly borrowed from Katch 22's "Ghetto Child," adds another layer of depth to the track.

The second tune is a happy hardcore-infused track "Ascend," incorporating a break similar to one in Kaotic Chemistry's "Illegal Subs”. This standout tune artfully weaves together euphoric elements and Dave Charlesworth-style riffs, creating an uplifting and infectious energy that keeps on reaching new heights. The 3rd track, “Universal”, can be classified as a proto-jungle from today’s perspective.

Now, with its re-emergence, "People of Rhythm" is destined to find a new audience and secure its place in the hearts of music enthusiasts.
